The UGC University Grants Commission has started the UGC Scholarship which offers approximately 15 scholarship programs, to encourage higher education studies among students studying for college level examinations like undergrad and others. Any type of scholarship program given by the UGC Scholarship 2023 is open to applicants. UGC Scholarship has been introduced, spanning 15 different types of subsidiary scholarship programs, to protect the interests of students from poor areas so they can pursue a higher course of study. At the time of applying for admission to the PG and PhD degrees, the students will be presented with a selection of study options. The UGC Scholarship program was established by the University Grants Commission to provide financial aid to students enrolled in UGC approved schools across India who are pursuing studies or degrees. The kids will receive a variety of scholarships and fellowships. Students in the restricted categories will receive age relaxations.

Objective for UGC Scholarship 2023

The main goal of the UGC Scholarship is to offer scholarships to students who want to pursue or undertake a higher course of study but are unable to do so owing to the high cost of attendance, which leads to dropping out of school. The UGC will begin giving scholarships or fellowship sums to these students.

Benefits for UGC Scholarship 2023

The benefits for this scholarship is given below:

  • About 15 scholarships under the UGC Scholarship  will be offered to students who apply.
  • The children would be given access to over 15 scholarships under the UGC Scholarship .
  • Grants for unexpected costs will be offered to the research doing students.
  • Registration forms will be provided to students who identify as SC, ST, OBC, PWDs or Minorities.
  • In the various courses, the students will be eligible to pursue PhDs.
  • Students have the option of pursuing PHDs in subjects including social sciences, business, science and the humanities.
  • Students get certain scholarships on a monthly basis, while others are awarded annually.
  • If the student has fulfilled the qualifying conditions, their scholarship or fellowship may be renewed.

Eligibility Criteria

The Eligibility Criteria for this scholarship is given below:

  • Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child:
  • The student must be a single girl child who is at least 30 years old and pursuing a graduate degree.
  • Post Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holder:
  • In order to be admitted to the graduate program, a student must have earned a first or second class undergraduate degree in one of the following fields: life sciences, chemistry, physical sciences, mathematics, earth sciences, social sciences, languages or commerce with a minimum grade point average of 60%.
  • Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC/ST Candidates:
  • When pursuing a PG degree in a professional course that has been authorised by the MCI, NCTE, BCI, NCTIS, RIC, DCI, PCI and AICTE body, the student must fall under the SC or ST category.
  • Special Scholarship Scheme Ishan Uday for NER:
  • When pursuing a PG degree in a professional courses that has been authorised by the MCI, NCTE, BCI, NCTIS, RIC, DCI, PCI and AICTE body, the student must fall under the SC or ST category.
  • Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences:
  • The student must be a single girl kid pursuing a PHD in social sciences and must be under 30 years old. Additionally, the transgender populations will be regarded as eligible.
  • Emeritus Fellowship:
  • The candidate must currently work as a teacher at accredited universities, colleges or institutes.
  • Dr. S. Radharkrishnan Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences:
  • Young researchers who are jobless and under the age of 35 who are pursuing PHDs in the social sciences or humanities fields and received minimum marks of 55% to 60% on the previous year’s test are eligible for this fellowship.
  • Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme:
  • The fellow must be at least 35 years old and be pursuing a PHD in a scientific discipline or faculty.
  • Post-Doctoral Fellowship to Women Candidates:
  • The applicant must be a female student working towards or holding a PHD and she must be jobless and under the age of 55. The minimum score on the exam from previous year must be between 55% and 60%.
  • Post-Doctoral Fellowship to SC/ST Candidates:
  • The applicant must be a SC or ST candidate pursuing a PhD with a maximum age of 50 to 55 years and a minimum score of 55% in the PG degree test.
  • National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students:
  • The SC student must be pursuing an M.Phil or PhD and must have earned high marks in their PG degree.
  • National Fellowship for Higher Education of ST Students:
  • The ST student must be pursuing an M.Phil or PHD and must have earned high marks in their PG degree.
  • National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities:
  • A student seeking or beginning work on an M.Phil, a PhD degree from an accredited institution or university that has received UGC approval must be a handicapped person with 40% disability marks.
  • Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students:
  • The student must be a member of the minority group, be enrolled full time or regularly in an M.Phil. or PhD programs have an annual income cap of Rs. 2,50,000 and have at least 50% in their PG exams.
  • National Fellowship for OBC Candidate:
  • Students of the OBC caste pursuing an M.Phil or PhD degree with an annual income cap of Rs. 6,00,000 would be eligible for this grant.
